On 26th of May I have had an awesome opportunity to record a live performance of a Lund University Woodwind Quintet. Below, some of the evidence from the crime scene is available for your interest..
I used two rode M5 pencil condensers for the job with a K&M stereo bar in a ORTF configuration for a nice stereo field plugged in to my trusty Focusrite Saffire 6 USB audio interface. I really like the end result. Not too harsh, not to dull. Nice balance for a really nice price. But sadly, this stereo bar S/N 23550 from K&M does not allow a proper XY setup. The microphone capsules are on the same plane, so it is not possible to orient them properly. ORTF is the only available choice.. I wish I spent a bit more on the one from Rode…
