About me

My name is Antanas Bukartas. I am a random dude, who loves music and everything to do with sound. I had been lucky to grow up with a sister, who became an opera singer (Viktorija Bakan — check her out!). Her influence made me to start taking music lessons specifying in classical piano at an early age. I did not particularly enjoy performing written pieces, but I liked to record stuff. And I have not figured out, that you are actually able to compose stuff..

Tragbarer Kassettenrekorder, Grundig C410, W. Germany 1971 ...
Grunding C410…

Although I did not enjoy the classical piano lessons very much, I had been playing around with the “Record” button since the early childhood years. I can remember my family having an old Grundig C410 tape recorder forever. I was running around the house carrying the recorder in my hand recording random stuff around the house, then trying to press the play button half-way down to be able to hear everything in “slow-motion”. Or just recording simple radio mixtapes…

Then, years later I made my first steps more serious steps in recording about ten years ago by recording my sister’s album with a simple web microphone in Cool Edit 2000.. It was not a perfect album by any means, but the idea that it is possible to make an album so easy blew me straight away. At the same time I started pressing “Record” button on cameras and camcorders too, fiddling with the Windows Movie Maker..

Later, in high-school I started playing blues harmonica. As my playing got more serious I tried to record myself to assess the progress. That really started to draw me in to record and composing simple blues mock-ups and delving in to the depths of a DAW. Later, I tried to find other blues musicians around to jam together. That was really hard so I picked up electric guitar to record simple backing tracks for myself…

Years passed, I graduated high-school and started studying in Vilnius University. As I had participated in several jam-sessions in Bliuzo Naktys blues festival I got noticed and ended up in a most renown Lithuanian blues band — Bluesmakers. During my years in the band we started producing professional quality audio and video recordings. Some of the recordings are available in the Video page.

I am looking forward to connect with other people interested in music,  recording and audio-video production interested in my services and for collaboration work. I am always open to ideas and suggestions!

Cheers!
